From March 5th to 9th, 2025, Madrid will transform into the international capital of contemporary art with the 44th edition of ARCOmadrid, hosted at IFEMA’s Pavilions 7 and 9. In this edition, the central project "Amazonas" will bridge the past and the future by emphasizing the essential relationship between galleries, artists, and collectors. Below is the definitive ARCO 2025 guide to help you discover what to see at ARCO and what to do at ARCO 2025.
What is ARCOmadrid 2025?
ARCOmadrid is Spain’s International Contemporary Art Fair, recognized as one of the most important platforms in today’s art market. In its 44th edition, the fair brings together 214 galleries from 36 countries, offering a vibrant and diverse panorama of contemporary art. Central to the event is the General Program, which features galleries selected by the Organizing Committee, along with curated sections that enrich the artistic offering:
Wametisé: Ideas for an Amazofuturism:Curated by Denilson Baniwa and María Wills in collaboration with the Institute for Postnatural Studies, this program reflects on new modes of creation that merge the human, the vegetal, the physical, and the metaphysical. Inspired by the peoples of the Upper Negro River in the Amazon, it calls for the protection of forests, rivers, and natural territories against unsustainable resource exploitation.
Opening: New Galleries:Curated by Cristina Anglada and Anissa Touati, this section highlights the emerging international and national gallery scene, showcasing stands from galleries less than seven years old.
Perfiles | Latin American Art:Curated by José Esparza Chong Cuy, this section reinforces the historical bond between ARCOmadrid and Latin American art, featuring a selection of galleries and artists that break cultural and physical boundaries.
Additionally, the fair will feature 32 Artist Projects presented by various galleries, promising a unique and diverse experience at every turn.
