In 1921, Emilio Saracho and Perico Chicote, on a trip from Madrid to London, set out on a mission to find authentic furniture to recreate the atmosphere of a genuine English club. Without knowing it, they were forging something much more transcendental: a space that would not only be a bar, but a museum of Madrid stories and legends. On that trip, they selected original English pieces that, together with elements such as the high ceilings, the imposing fireplace and the fresh flowers, gave the Bar Cock a unique and lasting identity. Located in an elegant mansion on Calle de la Reina, this bar established itself as a refuge for thinkers, poets and politicians in an era marked by instability and tension in the years leading up to the Civil War.
